WHO AM I?

LIFE IS NOT ABOUT FINDING YOURSELF, LIFE IS ABOUT CREATING YOURSELF. - GEORGE BERNARD SHAW

DECEMBER, 2008: I made an appointment with my then boss. At the time, I was the sales manager for a small tech firm in the Central Valley. I informed him I’d be leaving the company in 3 weeks. SIDE NOTE: I followed a girl…who hasn’t done that, right?

NEW YORK CITY, JANUARY 2009: I arrived and got to work. I took every assistant job I could find to learn photography.

MEXICO CITY, FEBRUARY 2009: It took about a month in the city and I already needed a break from life. I escaped to Mexico City and backpacked all the way down to Cancun with my camera in tow.

As I began to travel from town to town on the ADO bus line, I began to fall in love with capturing stills.

Since my youth, I’d conjure up storylines while playing with G.I Joes, I experimented with our video camera and my pop’s fancy Canon camera. I guess I never realized that deep down, I was a creative at heart. Enamored with cinema and storytelling in general. Nuts about fashion and tweaking whatever I wore to school. I guess I never thought I could make it a career.

After almost 2 months of backpacking, I returned to New York City. I setup a simple Yelp business profile and began to grind. I haven’t stopped since.

A couple, with the man in a brown suit kissing the woman on the cheek, who is wearing a red dress, standing against a dark, textured wall with a decorative light.
Man sitting on stool holding a vintage camera, wearing white shirt and dark vest, against a neutral background.

who’s the girl?

The lovely lady next to me is my wife, Rocio. (not the girl that prompted that New York move. 😊)

Depending on the project, Rocio helps with set design. She’s a natural artist. In her realm, she is known as the “Brow Queen”. You can look her up on IG: @ROCAN

She has a flare for design! She decorated our apartment, has painted murals in our studio and basically can craft up almost anything.
